The popular Ben Lomond Alpine Hotel was burnt to the ground at around 10:30 on Tuesday night.
Two heavy TFS tankers responded to the incident, with two others later being dispatched.
Investigations into what caused the fire are expected to commence on Wednesday.
Acting Sergeant Gavin Spencer from Tasmania Police said extensive damage was caused to the Alpine Hotel and an attached building.
Ben Lomond Snow Sports took to Facebook on Wednesday morning to announce the awful news, stating “Last night the pub part of the hotel has been burnt down and the public day shelter does not look too good either. Horrible to see, no one was hurt thankfully, just an awful situation for the pub people and Parks and Wildlife.
The fire has reportedly caused at least $1 million in damage.
Geoff Foot, owner of Ben Lomond Snow Sports said the loss of the hotel facilities would be a major concern during the upcoming ski season.
