The Taste NYE celebration a HUGE success!

Tuesday night’s Taste of Tasmania New Years Eve celebration is being hailed as its “best yet”!
The event, which has been running countiously for the past 31 years, attracted more than 5,500 ticketed visitors to its New Years Eve celebration last night, making it the biggest New Years Eve event in the festival’s history!
When asked about why The Taste was such a success this year, Festival Director Brooke Webb said
“What I think about this year’s program [that worked so well] is [that is] 100% proudly Tasmanian. The comumunity of locals, as well as people from interstate and internationals fully supported it.
“I was actually walking through the site for the family fireworks, and so many people stopped me and said, what they love about this festival is that we are 100% proudly Tasmanian, and they’re aboslutely right, there aren’t alot of festivals out there that do this”.
Despite record breaking numbers, Ms Webb said the festival still stayed true to its traditional relaxed and friendly atmosphere!
“The crowds were absolutely well behaved! Even though it was the highest number of people we’ve had for New Years Eve, it was still a really pleasant environment where you could get from one space to the next. Everyone was really kind and courteous with each other. It was a really good community event!
“One of the highlights for me was seeing Hugo Bladel, who had a trolley which was turned into a mobile disco unit. Wherever he went, there was an impromptu rave, and it was just off the charts!” she continued.
Despite 2019 coming to a close, festival organizers say there is still so much more to come, with The Taste being jam-packed with delicious local food and amazing local talent for the remaining 3 days!
